It follows mobsters, the right-wing assassins of the Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King, left-wing terrorists, cops and robbers who lie, cheat, kill and fall in love with each other while they seek revenge, redemption and a shipment of stolen emeralds. Publishers Weekly calls it “a stunning and crazy book that could only have been written by the premier lunatic of American letters”.
