The author of The Good Women of China is back with a book which explores the lives of not just women, but an entire generation. These Chinese elders lived through the Second World War, the civil war which brought Mao and the Communist Party to power, and the destruction of the Cultural Revolution. Xinran's book is called China Witness: Voices from a Silent Generation.
